The name “United Village” exemplifies a group of people coming together for a common purpose, and so The United Village Foundation embraces unity and teamwork as fundamental elements in building a successful community. Inspired by the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” the name United Village Foundation also emphasizes the importance of a “village” in supporting one another and families because the family unit is the foundation of a community.
UVF supports the Greater Hartford area by pursuing a permanent agenda of innovative family events and community development programs that serve to unite and bridge gaps between populations, thus enabling the community at large to become stronger.
We are “stronger together…stronger united” – United Village Foundation
OUR CORE VALUES
Our Core values are to be instilled in the minds and spirits of our participants to first see themselves as a gift and next teach them how to use their gift to impact their communities. Everyone has been inherently born with a talent(s) to make this world a better place. The United Village Foundation (UVF) has five core practices to affect change. The Core values are Social Responsibility, Collaboration, Respect, Education, and Empowerment. Our core practices serve our youth by helping them to discover their hidden treasures – themselves, their innate gifts and talents.
Our Core values are also rooted in our T.E.A.M. efforts to give our participants hope by inspiring, educating and empowering individuals; a commonsensical way of helping them to recognize, discover or rediscover their purpose in life. We all should be reminded that we all are global citizens. As citizens, we are responsible for each other and the world we live in. In our results, we are aiming to maximize youth involvement, to create effective and practical community engaging projects, and to cultivate good youth citizenship as our measurable outcomes.
